Giant U.S. retailer, Target Corp., has announced the locations of stores it plans to open in Canada, including four in Winnipeg, according to a report.

The Financial Post is reporting the company will move into former Zellers locations and open its doors in early 2013.

The locations in Winnipeg are:

  • Grant Park Shopping Centre.
  • Kildonan Place Shopping Centre.
  • Polo Park Shopping Centre.
  • Southdale Centre.

As well, the company is opening a store in the Shoppers Mall in Brandon.

The list of Target locations across Canada includes 13 in Alberta, 15 in British Columbia, one in New Brunswick, two in Newfoundland and Labrador, two in Nova Scotia, 45 in Ontario, one in PEI, 19 in Quebec, and two in Saskatchewan, according to the Financial Post.

Target said in January that it was buying the leasehold interests of 220 Zellers locations in Canada for $1.8 billion from the U.S. investor who owns the Hudson's Bay Co. assets.

At that time, Target said it would convert 100 to 150 of those Zellers to Target stores in 2013 and 2014 and possibly sell the rest to other retailers.
