The man and his dog were waiting in the area of Portage Avenue and Spence Street at about 8 a.m. when they were approached by an unknown man.

The suspect then started to distract the dog, and though he was asked to stop, he continued to do it, police said.

Eventually the suspect threatened to seriously harm both the victim and his dog.

When the victim got onto a city bus, the suspect followed and continued the behaviour, even though several passengers on the bus attempted to intervene.

After releasing surveillance photos of the suspect, police were able to find and interview him.

Police said the file has been submitted to the Crown to decide on whether or not formal charges should be laid.
