Winnipeg police have charged a 41-year-old man in connection with a serious sexual assault that took place in September.
Officers found the suspect Friday afternoon in Winnipeg's Transcona area.
In mid-September a 29-year-old noticed she was being followed by a man in the 100 block of Sutherland Avenue.
He eventually stopped to ask her for change, and when she was looking for some money in her purse the man grabbed her and forced her toward a nearby building where the sexual assault happened, police said.
Police also said the suspect was armed and threatened the victim. After the assault the suspect robbed the woman of her property.
The victim made her way to a nearby business and called police.
The suspect remains custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre and faces several charges including sexual assault with a weapon, armed robbery and uttering threats.
