People who work at Superstore and Extra Foods in Manitoba have voted to accept a new five-year contract and avoid the picket lines.
Members of UFCW Local 832 voted Sunday at locations around the province and ratified the new five-year deal with 91.4 per cent in favour.
The deal provides a 13 per cent wage increase over the five years, increased full-time jobs and also more guaranteed hours for the workers.
The new deal takes effect Oct. 21 with workers receiving retroactive pay for the wage increases going back to Sept. 28 when their previous contract expired.
The union represents 3,000 employees in seven Manitoba cities: Winnipeg, Brandon, Dauphin, Steinbach, Winkler, The Pas, Swan River and Dauphin.
