An ambulance remained at the scene Thursday morning, after a man had been convinced to come down from the roof of the house in the background. (Marianne Klowak/CBC)Winnipeg police surrounded a home Thursday morning, trying to get a man off the roof.
The police went to the home on the 400 block of Furby Street as part of a theft investigation.
While police took another person into custody, the man fled to the roof and refused to come down, sitting on the 2 ½-storey structure in just a tank top and pants.
He remained out there for about an hour, in a temperature of –24 C (with a windchill of –31 C), from about 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
He was finally convinced to climb onto an aerial ladder brought in by the fire department.
