Emergency crews battled a house fire in Winnipeg's Transcona neighbourhood on Thursday.
They were called out to the 500 block of Ravelston Avenue East, at Wayoata Street, just before 7:30 a.m.
Firefighters smashed windows to ventilate the home and get at the flames on the second floor. It took about an hour for the fire to be extinguished.
District chief Barry Evans said five people made it out of the house safely.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimate has been released.
