Winnipeg Catholics gather for mass dedicated to new Pope

People gathered for Sunday mass dedicated to the new pope at St.Mary's Cathedral in Winnipeg. (Chris Glover/CBC)Nearly 300 people attended mass Sunday at St. Mary's Cathedral where the Archbishop of Winnipeg dedicated the service to the new pope.
"I want to be with the people to celebrate the gift that God has given us," said Archbishop James Weisgerber.
Weisgerber worked with Pope Francis in 2001, and said he looks forward to his leadership.
"He was very sincerely listening to what other people have to say," said Weisgerber.
Winnie Rumore was at St. Mary's Cathedral the mass, praying Pope Francis will have ideas to revitalize the Catholic church.
"I think all archbishops around the world should be doing this because our new Pope is going to need prayer," said Rumore. "I pray that he'll be able to bring all the youth together and come back into the church."
Earlier Sunday in Vatican City thousands of people listened to Pope Francis deliver his fist public prayer.
The pope will be formally installed on Tuesday.
