A Winnipeg busker well known for belting out Johnny Cash tunes in the heart of Osborne Village will take his one-man show to the stage at the Pyramid Cabaret Thursday night.

Eric Pyle, also known by his stage name Eric the Great, has been playing music from a young age, and for the last nine years, he’s played on Winnipeg streets.

“I’ve played crowds of up to 20,000 — festivals and things over the years,” said Pyle.

For 10 years Pyle played as part of the Ludwigs, a local band. When the group broke up, he decided to try a solo gig and play on the streets instead of stages.

“It’s been a beautiful thing and a beautiful reward,” said Pyle.

“I got exposed to people in the true fashion of what’s in the heart and soul, which is all this love and beauty. And that’s what people of Winnipeg have shown me.”

Pyle hits the stage at 9 p.m.
