Pepper spray was used in two unrelated robberies within hours of each other in Winnipeg Sunday night.
In the first, officers were called to a restaurant in the 600 block of St. James Street around 10 p.m.
Two men armed with crowbars and bear spray had robbed the restaurant.
No one was injured in the robbery, but the pair made off with cash before fleeing in a blue Toyota, police said.
A few hours later, a 57-year-old man was taking cash out at an ATM in St. Vital.
When he walked back to his car, a man and woman followed him and then pepper sprayed him and assaulted him, police said.
The pair then fled in another vehicle waiting nearby.
The man’s injuries were non-life-threatening, and now police are looking for two suspects.
Two units are now looking into both pepper-spray robberies.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
