A 50-year-old man died after being struck by a snowmobile in western Manitoba.

It happened Monday just after 2 p.m. alongside the Trans-Canada Highway, about two kilometres west of Virden.

According to RCMP, a snowmobiler had become stuck and a second rider was helping him out. That's when another snowmobile struck the second rider. The injured man, from the Rural Municipality of Wallace, was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His name will not be released to the public, police said. There were no other injuries.
