The history of Winnipeg's urban aboriginal people is being pieced together by researchers.

The research team from the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba is sorting through 40 years of documents, in the hopes of filling in gaps in the history of urban aboriginal development in the provincial capital.

The researchers are also looking to local organizations, such as the Indian and Métis Friendship Centre, for information about the city's past.
