A clothing bank that has helped people in Winnipeg's North End is being halted, due to a lack of volunteers.

The North End Family Centre is giving away the last batch from its clothing bank to those in need on Saturday at 12-4 p.m. at St. John's Cathedral. (Google Street View)

The North End Family Centre has been running the clothing bank for three years, but staff say there aren't enough volunteers to run it properly.

"It was a well-used program and it actually was not an easy decision to put this program on hold," said Kyle Mason, the centre's executive director.

"I was really reluctant, just because there is such a need. But, again, that was beyond our resources at this point."

The centre is giving away its last batch of gently used clothing to those in need between noon and 4 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Cathedral on Anderson Avenue.

Mason said the North End Family Centre would be happy to hear from any volunteers who want to start up the clothing bank again.
