A Stony Mountain Institution inmate is suing the federal government for allegedly failing to protect him. (CBC)
A Manitoba inmate is suing the federal government for allegedly failing to protect him while he was serving a sentence at Stony Mountain Institution.
In March 2011, Rene Barrios-Lopez was stabbed more than 50 times at the jail. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
Barrios-Lopez said three inmates attacked him, and guards didn’t intervene until several minutes had passed.
He is also suing the three inmates involved in the attack.
