Winnipeg police have arrested a 15-year-old boy after a woman was robbed of her vehicle by an armed suspect Saturday evening.
Officers were called to the 300 block of Kennedy Street area where there was a report of a robbery at about 6:40 p.m. CST.
Police said the woman had just pulled into her parking spot and was getting out of her vehicle when she was confronted by a male suspect.
"Once she left her vehicle she was confronted by an armed male suspect," said Const. Jason Michalyshen, with the Winnipeg police. "The suspect was in possession of a black, pistol-style pellet gun. This weapon was pointed in the direction of the victim," he said.
The suspect demanded that the woman give him the keys to her vehicle — the woman handed over the keys and ran for safety.
The suspect took off in the vehicle, in which the woman had left her purse, cash and jewellery, police said.
"She was placed in a very, very difficult and unfortunate circumstance," said Michalyshen. "She complied with the demands of the accused and ultimately she remained safe throughout the incident."
At about 11 p.m. CST Saturday the RCMP spotted the stolen vehicle in the Headingley, Man. area.
The male suspect along with three passengers in the vehicle were taken into custody.
A 15-year-old boy faces several charges including robbery with a firearm, pointing a firearm and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The teen remains in police custody.
