Mounties charge pair in arms-smuggling bust

Two Canadians have been arrested and charged with numerous firearms-related offences following a year-long investigation into weapons smuggling, Manitoba RCMP announced Friday.
The investigation involved allegations of illegal possession and subsequent sale of combat-style semi-automatic rifles, a handgun and ammunition brought into northwest Ontario and Manitoba from the United States, the Mounties said in a news release
One of the men was arrested in Fort Frances, Ont., and faces 27 firearms charges. The other, who was arrested in North Dakota, faces 35 charges, most of which occurred in Manitoba, according to the RCMP.
The investigation continues, the Mounties said.
