Winnipeg police have made an arrest in a homicide dating back to April 2012.

Allan Frank Crockford, 42, was walking with a friend in the 600 block of Maryland Street just after midnight on April 6, 2012.

Police said Crockford and his friend were confronted by a man and threatened with a gun.

Crockford was shot, and he and his friend were robbed.

Crockford died later in hospital.

At the time of his death, his family said he had gone out to purchase beer, and they believed he may have been robbed for it. Now, 10 months later, Winnipeg police have made an arrest in the case.

Around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday officers charged 26-year-old Derek John Hall with second degree murder, robbery with a firearm and a slew of additional firearm-related charges.

Hall was already in police custody on unrelated charges.

Hall has been detained.
