Beer and liquor prices in Manitoba will rise starting April 1, but the province's liquor control commission says it's too early to say how much more customers will pay.

Officials with the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission said they are still determining what cost increase they will have to pay suppliers for freight, exchange rates and inflation.

The commission is also raising its own surcharges, officials added.

Those increases amount to 80 cents on a 12-pack of beer and 47 cents on a 750-millilitre bottle of spirits.

The total price increase for consumers will not be known for about two weeks.
