Simcoe Street standoff ends with arrest

Winnipeg police have taken a man into custody following a 90-minute standoff this afternoon in the city's West End.
Police and fire crews were called to the 500 block of Simcoe Street shortly after 1 p.m. CT Friday, on reports that someone was breaking into a house.
The fire department was also called in, as the man had reportedly tried — but failed — to set the house on fire.
No one was hurt in the incident.
