At least one Winnipeg resident says he's fed up with having to shovel piles of snow and ice from the sidewalk in front of his home in the city's Elmwood neighbourhood.
Nelson Sanderson says city crews have not cleared the sidewalk by his house since the last major snowfall about three weeks ago.
"If you're stepping down and you hit a rut, your foot twists and you sprain your ankle," he told CBC News on Wednesday.
Sanderson said his mail carrier has even warned him it's almost too dangerous to deliver mail on his street.
"It's treacherous, not only for the mailman but for our neighbours. Many of them, they have to walk on the street," he said.
City officials acknowledged that Sanderson's side of the street had been missed, but it will be addressed soon.
Crews will finish plowing residential sidewalks by day's end Thursday, a spokesperson said, adding that cold weather has slowed down the snow-clearing process.
But Sanderson said that's not good enough.
"I've lived here 25 years. I've paid my share of taxes — school taxes and everything else — no complaints. Our taxes are going up, no complaints," he said.
"The only complaint I have is that they should be doing their work."
