An 18-year-old man faces a number of charges in Brandon, Man., after he allegedly choked a woman and stole her car, after she had told him he was too drunk to drive.
Brandon police say the man and woman were in a parking lot in the 1100 block of 18th Street at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday when an argument erupted.
The woman was trying to stop the man from taking her car, saying he had been drinking, according to police.
The man allegedly grabbed the woman by the throat and choked her. He then took off in the woman's car, say police.
RCMP tracked down the man and the car in the Rural Municipality of Cornwallis at around 4:30 a.m.
The man, who is from Shilo, Man., is in custody at the Brandon Correctional Centre and faces multiple charges, including choking to overcome resistance and theft of a motor vehicle.
