Many Winnipeggers woke to find temporary no-parking signs throughout the city Monday after the city began a major snow-hauling operation.
City officials said crews are working round-the-clock to clear snow piles from a number of locations throughout Winnipeg.
Crews are targeting areas where snow has accumulated near bridges and underpasses as well as high snow piles near main routes and schools.
Temporary no-parking signs are being placed in advance of snow-hauling in some areas.
City officials are asking motorists to avoid parking in those areas and find alternate spots. Any cars found parked in a temporary no-parking zone could be ticketed and towed.
The snow-hauling operation will use heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, large snow-blowers and semi-trailers.
City officials said motorists should use extreme caution when driving near crews or heavy equipment.
