It has been a bad morning for highway travel across southern Manitoba Saturday.

The Department of Transportation reports snow and ice-packed roads along with poor visibility.

The Trans-Canada Highway west of Winnipeg is reported to have the worst conditions in terms of blowing snow.

Temperatures will drop throughout the weekend throughout most of the province.

There are several blowing snow warnings in the southern Red River Valley area.

Wind gusts are also said to reach 50 km/h to 70 km/h.

In the far north regions of the province, wind chill warnings are in effect.

Those areas are expected to get extreme wind chills of – 45 C or colder throughout the day.
