Pair charged in Black River First Nation homicide

Manitoba RCMP have charged two men in the death of a 25-year-old man on the Black River First Nation northeast of Winnipeg on New Year's Day.
Peter Richard Bird, 25, was found stabbed to death in a home on the reserve at about 2 a.m. CT on Tuesday. An autopsy has confirmed that he died of a stab wound.
Two men, aged 20 and 21, have been charged with second-degree murder in connection with Bird's death, RCMP announced Wednesday afternoon.
The victim and both of the accused were known to each other, according to police.
The Black River First Nation is located about 140 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg and about 35 kilometres north of Powerview, Man.
Boy charged in Plum Coulee homicide
Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy is heading to court on Wednesday to face charges of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a man in Plum Coulee on Sunday.
Police are not releasing the names of the teen and the victim, but say they knew each other.
In a separate incident, a 25-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to another death on Sunday.
A man was found injured and unconscious in a home in Thompson in northern Manitoba.
