Winnipeg police say they are looking for two female suspects after a 40-year-old woman was robbed and assaulted in a transit shelter near Grant Park Shopping Centre last night.

Police say the woman was waiting in a bus shelter on the 1100 block of Grant Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. CT Wednesday when the two suspects trapped her inside the shelter.

One of the suspects pulled out a weapon — police did not say what kind of weapon it was — while the other woman took cash and other personal property from the victim.

Both suspects then fled, and the woman was able to call police.

The victim was assaulted in the upper body during the incident. She was taken to hospital in stable condition, police said in a release Thursday.

Anyone who may have information about the incident asked to call police at (204) 986-2877 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
