A Manitoba farmer says he's facing bankruptcy after one of the province's biggest hog producers went under.
Robert Wiebe delivered winter wheat to Puratone from his farm near Morden earlier this year.
Puratone went into bankruptcy protection soon after, leaving nearly $100 million owing to creditors.
Wiebe says he may never get back the $300,000 he is owed.
“It took the wind out of my sails; took the fun out of it. It was devastating,” Wiebe said.
Keystone Agricultural Producers, the largest farm lobby group in Manitoba. is holding a meeting next week to discuss what steps farmers should take.
It has heard from several farmers who have also suffered thousands of dollars in losses.
