Drivers are being advised to slow down because of heavy snowfall.

With the snow falling in parts of southern Manitoba, people are being advised to drive carefully after reports of poor visibility and slippery roads Saturday afternoon.

In Winnipeg snow building up on city streets is resulting in rough driving conditions, especially at intersections.

According to Darren Sohan with Manitoba Transportation, highways aren't looking good either.

"Partly snow covered, snow-packed sections and drifting snow," he said.

Winds gusting up to 60 km/h south of Winnipeg, around Winkler, Morden, Carman and Steinbach are causing poor visibility.

There were also reports earlier Saturday of poor visibility on Highway 6 near Grand Rapids.

The snow is expected to ease off in the late afternoon.
