RCMP in the northern Manitoba city of Thompson say they have seized more than $44,000 worth of cocaine and marijuana in four separate drug searches this week.

A total of five people β€” three from Thompson and two from Winnipeg β€” face drug trafficking-related charges in connection with the drug busts, three of which took place on Thursday. The fourth happened on Wednesday.

RCMP say the estimated street value of the seized drugs range between $1,200 and $25,000.

In one case, officers and police dogs found 12 ounces of powder cocaine following a traffic stop on Mystery Lake Road.

A 45-year-old Winnipeg man who was arrested in connection with that bust is scheduled to appear in court Monday in Thompson.

The other arrested individuals have been released on promises to appear in court in Thompson in January.
