Seven people have been charged in connection with numerous break-ins at homes across Winnipeg over the past five months.
Winnipeg police say the break-ins, which took place between May and October of this year, involved the suspects breaking into homes or garages and stealing vehicles, electronics, jewelry, cash, credit card and household items.
The estimated value of the stolen goods total $180,000, police said in a release Tuesday.
Following a lengthy investigation, police arrested the seven individuals, who range in age between 21 and 45 years old, for their alleged involvement in the theft spree.
One 26-year-old man has been charged with 37 counts of breaking and entering a dwelling house, while a 21-year-old man has been charged with 33 counts of the same charge.
Police have charged a 32-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man with 28 and 26 counts, respectively, of possessing goods obtained by crime.
A 31-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man have been charged each with several counts of breaking and entering and possessing goods obtained by crime.
The 45-year-old man has been charged with four counts of possessing goods obtained by crime.
Police say the investigation into the break-in spree continues, and more charges could be laid.
