Two men are in critical condition in hospital following two separate crashes in Winnipeg last night and early this morning.

Emergency crews were first called at about 11:40 p.m. CT Saturday to a two-vehicle collision at Polson Avenue and Airlies Street.

Police said a Ford F-150 pickup truck struck a Chevrolet Cobalt.

The man driving the Cobalt was taken to hospital in critical condition, while a man who was a passenger in the car sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the F-150 ran away from the scene of the crash, police said in a release.

The intersection was closed to traffic early Sunday morning, but it has since reopened.

Traffic collision investigators are looking into both crashes.
