Two men are in critical condition in hospital following two separate crashes in Winnipeg last night and early this morning.
Emergency crews were first called at about 11:40 p.m. CT Saturday to a two-vehicle collision at Polson Avenue and Airlies Street.
Police said a Ford F-150 pickup truck struck a Chevrolet Cobalt.
The man driving the Cobalt was taken to hospital in critical condition, while a man who was a passenger in the car sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the F-150 ran away from the scene of the crash, police said in a release.
The intersection was closed to traffic early Sunday morning, but it has since reopened.
Car hits tree
Meanwhile, police remain at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on the 200 block of Henderson Highway that took place at around 4 a.m.
Police said a man driving a small two-door car lost control of the vehicle, which struck a tree and flipped, landing on its roof.
The driver is in hospital in critical condition, according to police.
Henderson Highway was closed between Martin Avenue West and Carmen Avenue for much of the day.
Traffic collision investigators are looking into both crashes.
Also under investigation is a third crash that happened earlier Saturday evening on the corner of Main Street and Redwood Avenue.
Police said a PT Cruiser and a Volkswagen Tiguan collided at around 6:30 p.m.
Although the Volkswagen was flipped over in the crash, no one was seriously hurt, according to police.
