Trudeau addressed supporters at an event at the Punjab Banquet Hall.
In his speech, he criticized the Conservative government's cuts to research facilities and changes to immigration programs.
After, Trudeau spoke to reporters and said he believes there is too much negativity in politics.
"I've been spending my entire life connecting with Canadians," Trudeau said. "And over the past four or five years that I've been in politics, I've been all about genuine conversations. And I've seen, right across the country, that Canadians are tired of the negativity of politics."

"One of the things ... that someone asked me is if this government is afraid of me and I laughed and I said no."
He went on to criticize the Conservatives.
