A man is in a Winnipeg hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after his car was hit by a garbage truck on the Perimeter Highway this afternoon.
The two-vehicle collision happened shortly after 2 p.m. CT on the highway about 1.6 kilometres west of Brady Road.
RCMP say a westbound garbage truck was turning southbound from the Perimeter to Brady Road when it crashed with an eastbound Ford Focus.
The male driver of the Focus was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said in a release.
The man who was driving the garbage truck has been charged under the provincial Highway Traffic Act with proceeding before safe to do so and with suspended driving.
His driver's licence had been suspended at the time of the crash, an RCMP spokesperson told CBC News.
