Two Winnipeg Blue Bombers have been honoured with CFL awards for their play in last week's 34-12 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Running back Chad Simpson and linebacker Henoc Muamba earned the offensive player of the week and Canadian player of the week nods.
Simpson recorded his first career 100-yard rushing effort after carrying the ball 19 times for 134 yards on the ground.
He also added 58 receiving yards on four receptions, giving him a career-high 192 combined yards for the game.
This is the first player of the week honour for Simpson, who sits fourth in the league in rushing with 682 yards.
Muamba had a breakout game recording five defensive tackles, one pass knockdown and one sack. He also forced one fumble, giving him a league-leading five on the season, putting him one back of the team’s single season record of six, held by Daved Benefield.
This is Muamba’s first player of the week honour of his career.
Simpson and Muamba are the sixth and seventh members of the team to be honoured with a weekly award this season.
They join Justin Palardy, Joey Elliott, Alex Hall, Demond Washington and Jason Vega as previous recipients in 2012.
