The death of a 52-year-old truck driver in Plum Coulee, Man., this week is being treated as suspicious, according to RCMP and municipal police in south-central Manitoba.

The man was found with life-threatening head injuries beside his semi-trailer in the parking lot of the Sunset Diner in Plum Coulee at around 10:45 p.m. CT on Tuesday.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition, but he later died of his injuries, the Altona Police Service said in a release Thursday.

The police said it is treating the matter as suspicious and the RCMP's major crimes unit has been brought in to investigate.

Police did not release the man's name.

The town of Plum Coulee is located about 90 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg.
