A head-on crash that killed a motorcyclist in Shoal Lake was caused by the motorcycle veering into the path of a pickup truck.

RCMP on Monday released the findings of their investigation into the collision, which happened on Sept. 14 just before 9 p.m. at the intersection of Station Road and 1st Avenue.

The 22-year-old rider was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. No name has been released by police, who say the 54-year-old driver of the truck was not injured.

Shoal Lake is located about 280 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.
