While the number of HIV and AIDS cases across Canada has levelled off in the past decade, Manitoba and Saskatchewan have seen increases in the number of new HIV cases.

Manitoba reported 12.3 HIV cases per 100,000 people in 2010 and Saskatchewan reported 19.1 cases per 100,000, compared with the national average of 8.2 cases.

There were 80 new cases in Manitoba in 2011 and Aboriginal people are developing HIV in disproportionate numbers, a new report says.
