A 21-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon following a stabbing incident on a Winnipeg Transit bus over the weekend.

The suspect turned himself in to police on Sunday, investigators said Monday.

A 20-year-old passenger was stabbed at around 7 p.m. CT Saturday while the bus was near the Polo Park Shopping Centre.

Police have said the victim and accused knew one another, and the incident may have been over a female known to both males.

The victim is in stable condition and faces charges of breaching the conditions of a sentencing order.
