A 40-year-old Winnipeg woman has been charged in connection with a boating crash on Lake of the Woods that sent two people to hospital.

The woman, who fled the scene of the July 29 crash, is charged with failing to stop at the scene.

She is scheduled to be in Kenora court in October.

According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a 15-foot Bayliner was travelling from the area of the Safeway docks in Kenora to Keewatin when it was struck by another vessel.

The three occupants of the Bayliner were thrown into the water and the vessel sunk, OPP said.

Two women passengers, aged 20 and 22, were transported to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg while the operator of the boat, a 25-year-old man, was charged with two counts of drunk boating.
