A male helicopter pilot is in hospital after his aircraft crashed in a field in western Manitoba on Wednesday morning.
RCMP, paramedics and firefighters were called to the crash site, about six kilometres south of Silverton, Man., at around 11 a.m. CT.
Police say a Bell 206 Jet Ranger, owned by a company from North Bay, Ont., had lost control while spraying crops in a rural area.
The chopper plummeted to the ground and was destroyed upon impact, but the pilot was able to get out of the aircraft and walk to a farmyard for help, RCMP said.
The pilot was taken to hospital, but police did not have details about the extent of his injuries. His name was not released.
RCMP and Transport Canada are investigating the crash.
Silverton is about 10 kilometres east of Russell, Man., and about 175 kilometres northwest of Brandon.
