Assault sends man to hospital in critical condition

Police investigate at the scene of a serious assault on Friday in Winnipeg's North End. (Kenziwe Broddy/CBC)A man is in critical condition after a serious assault in Winnipeg's North End.
Police spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen said the man was found on the ground in the 200 block of Machray Avenue just before 5 a.m. on Friday.
He was suffering from serious upper body injuries and rushed to hospital.
The area is all taped off and there are evidence markers in several places on the ground.
Neighbors told CBC News there was a fight late Thursday night over a case of beer.
