An 84-year-old woman in Brandon, Man., has died following a house fire on Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the Balmoral Bay house shortly after 1:30 p.m. CT and found an unconscious woman inside as they were extinguishing the fire.
The woman was transported to hospital, where she later died, according to Brandon police.
Next of kin were notified, but police did not release the woman's name. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
Police said the woman lived in the house with her husband and daughter, but she was the only person inside the home when the fire started.
The fire appears to have been caused by an electrical overload and is not considered suspicious at this point, according to an early investigation by police, firefighters and the provincial fire commissioner's office.
