Lake Manitoba flood victims ponder future

Lake Manitoba property owners, victims of last summer's flood, met in Winnipeg Monday night calling for government compensation.
Albert Jacobs lived in his Twin Lakes Beach cottage for 25 years until the property was written off as a result of last year's high water levels on Lake Manitoba.
"I'd like to see some progress of some kind," he said. "You know, I don't care what we do as long as we move ahead."
Brenda Helgason said flood victims feel as if they're stuck in limbo. "It just seems it's stalled — everything is stalling. Nothing is moving forward," she said.
Helgason said property owners remain concerned about the high water levels on the lake and are incredulous that local municipalities are considering tax increases on devastated lake front properties.
