The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will start the 2012 CFL season against the same team they faced in the 2011 championship game.
The Bombers will head to B.C. to face the Lions under the dome, where they lost the Grey Cup 34-23 in November.
The Bomber schedule for the upcoming season was released on Friday.
The team plays their first four regular season games on the road — in B.C., Montreal, Edmonton and Toronto — before hosting their first game in Winnipeg on July 26 against Edmonton.
However, the team has not been able to confirm if the new stadium, currently under construction on the University of Manitoba campus, will be ready for that first regular season home game.
Darren Cameron, Director of Media Relations for the Blue Bombers confirmed with CBC Friday that the Bombers asked the CFL if they could start the season on the road to give them time to ensure the new stadium would be useable.
Four games was the maximum the CFL was willing to put a team on the road for to start the season because any more than that would likely put the Bombers at a huge disadvantage.
Construction has fallen behind schedule since December.
Cameron said the new stadium could open without being 100 per cent finished, so long as fan/team safety is assured.
The team is now reviewing construction timelines and will provide an update soon.
A pre-season exhibition game is scheduled for June 20, against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. It's unclear where this game will be held.
