Manitoba families with missing or murdered women in their lives marched through downtown Winnipeg on Tuesday evening to raise awareness of their loved ones.

Hundreds of people drummed and held signs as they walked from Spence Street along part of Ellice Avenue, then down Colony Street and back along Portage Avenue.

Bernice Catcheway, whose 18-year-old daughter Jennifer disappeared on June 19, 2008, was among the many participants who have been seeking answers about their lost loved ones.

"A day don't go by where I don't think about Jennifer. It's constant … she's in my heart and in my mind," Catcheway told CBC News.

Similar marches were held across Canada on Tuesday. Some, like the women's memorial march in Vancouver, date back to the 1990s, according to organizers.
