Manitoba Hydro says it has restored electricity to about 7,000 customers who were affected by a power outage in north Winnipeg on Tuesday afternoon.
The power outage started at around 4 p.m. CT, while Manitoba Hydro crews were fixing damage from a pole-top fire that had taken place around 2:30 p.m., utility officials told CBC News.
The outage resulted in traffic lights not working at numerous intersections along Main Street from Chief Peguis Trail to Jefferson Avenue.
Lights were also reported to be out on McGregor Street, McPhillips Street, Salter Street and Henderson Highway.
At least one area resident told CBC News that the power is also out in a number of homes and businesses.
Hydro officials said the power was restored shortly after 6 p.m.
