Winnipeg fire crews and police were called to a couple of fires in the city early Tuesday morning.

The first, which happened just before 1:30 a.m. in the North End, caused an estimated $15,000 in damage to a vacant house in the 600 block of Dufferin.

Arson is suspected.

The second happened just before 4 a.m. in Transcona. Two cars were destroyed when a garage burned in the 1300 block of Kildare Avenue East.

It's believed the fire was sparked by a faulty cord.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.

No one was hurt in either fire.
