Semi-trailer burns on Trans-Canada in Manitoba

Two people inside a semi-trailer in eastern Manitoba escaped without injury when the unit caught fire.
The driver was heading west on the Trans-Canada Highway near the community of McMunn at about 8 a.m. when he noticed a possible mechanical malfunction.
A semi-trailer that caught fire on the Trans-Canada Highway on Thursday was a total loss. (Falcon Beach RCMP)He pulled off the highway into a parking lot when he discovered a fire in the truck, around the rear axles, RCMP said.
He attempted to extinguish it but the fire spread quickly.
Firefighters were called and eventually extinguished the flames but the vehicle is a total loss.
The occupants, a 35-year-old man and 33-year-old man, both from Ontario, were able to escape without injury.
The truck was hauling general freight with no hazardous materials, RCMP said.
