Winnipegger selected as Paralympic Games umpire

The University of Winnipeg's Sandy Kirby has been chosen to umpire at the Paralympic Games in London.
The dean of graduate studies is the only Canadian selected to umpire at the Games in the United Kingdom from Aug. 28 until Sept. 3.
An Olympic athlete from the 1976 Games in rowing, Kirby has a strong history with the games as an athlete as well as an internationally-recognized expert, researcher and advocate on child protection in sports.
Since 1980, her research has focused on child protection as well as gender and sport equity.
