A small airplane crashed Thursday afternoon near St. Claude, Man., but the pilot walked away unharmed, according to police.

RCMP say the 64-year-old man, who was the lone occupant of the Cessna 172 aircraft, was trying to land the plane shortly after 3 p.m. when it came into contact with hydro lines.

The plane crashed, bringing down a hydro pole and lines, about 1½ kilometres north of St. Claude near PR 240.

The pilot walked away from the crash without injury, according to police, who are investigating the incident.
