Winnipeg city Coun. Ross Eadie is in hot water after sending an email to fellow councillors that was laced with f-bombs and an arsenal of off-colour expressions.

Eadie sent the email Tuesday to the members of the city's property committee because he was angry about a two-storey multi-unit residence approved for construction in his Mynarski ward.

The committee overturned a previous decision by the community committee, of which Eadie is a member.

The development is proposed for Scotia Street, which is also the street Eadie lives on.

In the email, he writes "nobody f---s with my home."

The email was sent to Couns. Mike Pagtakhan, Jeff Browaty, Russ Wyatt and Paula Havixbeck.

He has since apologized to Havixbeck, who no longer sits on the property committee.

Eadie says he's not sorry

Council speaker Grant Nordman has called on Eadie to apologize to his colleagues, calling it unprofessional. Mayor Sam Katz has echoed that call.

But Eadie said on Wednesday that he's not sorry.

"They violated my ability to do my job as city councillor for the Mynarski ward. So yes, I used some f-bombs or f-sharps as I like to call them," he said.

Eadie said it was a private email between councillors, not like a public posting on Twitter. As well, he said it was unprofessional for other councillors to have leaked the missive to the media.

Councillors swear all the time in closed-door meetings and he doesn't make it public, Eadie said.

While Nordman has asked Eadie to apologize to his fellow councillors, he said there is no process in place to censure him.

"The speaker is sort of the cop, but at the end of the day I don't have a lot of authority beyond [the] council chamber itself," Nordman said.

'Ross speaks his mind,' says resident

Asked about the email, Wyatt told reporters, "I don't dignify emails like that with a comment."

Asked further if he intends to discuss it with Eadie, Wyatt said, "Maybe when he cools down a bit."

Mynarski-area resident Mike Wolchock said he has no problems with Eadie's language, adding that people in the neighbourhood appreciate his fight against the condominium proposal.

"Ross speaks his mind, and that's the problem at City Hall ... too many people are worried about being politically correct," Wolchock said.

"Ross doesn't care. He's our councillor, he's speaking on behalf of the community."

Eadie's email

"So this is how people treat someone who is not trying to be the typical politician. This move deeply hurts me."

"Mike, if you voted for this f---- crap, you are not going to like Community Committee any more. Nobody f---s with my home. I have a definition of density that says no f---- multifamily structures mid block. If this f---- project was at the corner of a feeder street and Scotia, it might be okay with a proper design.

"Rus you are just a f---- a--hole. Your pal could have made lots off f---- money without this crap. I knew you would pull this s--- when you lied to me about Jenny.

"Jeff, how would you feel about pulling this s--- on Kildonan Drive?

"Paula, not sure how you voted, but how would you feel if this crap was pulled on you?"
