Some homeowners in Winnipeg's Wildwood neighbourhood were left without water in their taps, but plenty on their street after a watermain break on Monday.

The water filled up and overtopped a ditch along North Drive, in front of about seven homes along the first block east of Pembina Highway.

The water then quickly froze, leaving the sidewalk and the road extremely slippery.

Resident Pat Routledge said she wants to see more money for watermain renewal when the city's capital infrastructure budget comes out on Tuesday.

But she also believes with our aging infrastructure, the city can't bear this burden alone. Other levels of government need to step up to the plate, she said.

There is no word on how long residents will be without water.
